5A molecular sieve

5A molecular sieve

5A molecular sieve is an alkali metal aluminosilicate with a pore size of 5 angstroms (0.5 nanometers), made from calcium ion exchange in an A-type molecular sieve. Due to its internal structure containing numerous 5-angstrom crystal adsorption cavities, it can adsorb molecules with a diameter smaller than 5 angstroms while not adsorbing any molecules with a diameter greater than 5 angstroms. It is primarily used for the separation of normal paraffins, pressure swing adsorption separation, and the co-adsorption of water and carbon dioxide.

    Advantage

Selective Adsorption and Separation Capability: 5A molecular sieve features a highly regular microporous structure that enables the adsorption and separation of different substances. It is especially suitable for applications such as the separation of normal paraffins, pressure swing adsorption separation, and co-adsorption of water and carbon dioxide.

High Adsorption Capacity: 5A molecular sieve can effectively adsorb small molecules, such as nitrogen and oxygen, and has a high adsorption capacity. It is suitable for applications in gas separation, gas drying, and air purifications

Good Thermal Stability: 5A molecular sieve maintains good adsorption performance at high temperatures, demonstrating high thermal stability and the ability to operate stably under various temperature conditions.

Weak Acidity: 5A molecular sieve exhibits weak acidity and can react with some alkaline substances. This property makes it effective as a catalyst support in catalytic reactions, enhancing catalytic reaction efficiency.

    Precautions for use

Safety Precautions: Avoid contact with eyes and skin, and avoid inhalation. During storage, keep containers sealed to ensure the molecular sieve remains dry. The storage area should be equipped with leak emergency handling equipment and appropriate containment materials.
Operational Precautions: The dehydration operation of 5A molecular sieve is relatively simple. It can be placed directly into a solvent or allow solutions or gases to pass through the molecular sieve adsorption tower. When using, control the temperature, as 5A molecular sieve is typically used below 300°C. Exceeding this temperature may cause structural damage and deactivation of the sieve.
Adsorption Performance: 5A molecular sieve has highly selective adsorption capability, able to adsorb moisture from the air but not solvents and gases (e.g., tetrahydrofuran). Its adsorption capacity is typically around 22%.

Regeneration and Lifespan: Regeneration of 5A molecular sieve is relatively simple and can be achieved by exposing it to nitrogen at temperatures above 300°C for one hour before reuse. Its lifespan can reach 3-5 years.

Environmental Adaptability: When using 5A molecular sieve for pressure swing adsorption oxygen production, consider the temperature, humidity, and dust content of the air, as these factors can affect machine performance and lifespan. It is recommended to configure the equipment for indoor use to avoid the high dust and humidity levels found outdoors.
